"WHAT IS YOUR POWER BASE?"
Discovering the sources of your influence over others
This presentation focuses on the five types of power: reward, coercive, referent, expert, and legitimate. The audience is introduced to each one and given graphic examples of how they work – in both business and personal life. The speaker uses appropriate anecdotes to illustrate how power is used by people in all walks of life to achieve desired results. Attention is drawn to the illusive concept of "perceived" power. Participants will be taught to use one of the most powerful and effective employee motivational techniques and encouraged to apply it to their daily work routine - with guaranteed results.
"MAKING ETHICAL DECISIONS THE
FOUNDATION OF YOUR SUCCESS"
How to make the "right" call in the face of potential adversity
This powerful interactive seminar begins with the sources of behavior influencing ethical and moral decisions. Examples from "real life" cause participants to reflect upon their own motivation and reasoning when making tough calls on a daily basis. Focus is directed to heightening awareness and implications of ethics in the workplace and upon enhancing the audience's ability to analyze and respond to ethical dilemmas. The three main philosophies of moral behavior (Duty, Utilitarianism, and Social Justice) are reviewed through entertaining anecdotes that illustrate each one. The presentation includes memorable quotations and exemplary corporate policy statements. An "Ethical Checklist" is provided for use in making future business and personal decisions.
"HOW TO BUILD A BETTER BUDGET"
Design a viable document everyone will be proud to use
This workshop deals with budget preparation as a set of masterable skills. These entail mastery and utilization of an owner or company-prescribed chart of accounts, addressing the overall financial document, integrating corporate objectives, making budget presentations to owners or a board of directors, and preparation techniques that make budgets more timely, accurate, and meaningful to all users. Instruction includes emphasis on the budget relative to the company's business plan, making detailed budgeting specific and easy-to-understand, and preparing budget documents that are more "defensible" before reviewers.
"DISASTER PLANNING - WHEN (NOT IF)
THE WORST HAPPENS"
This seminar addresses how occupants of commercial and corporate buildings may save lives, property, time, and money through informed preparation to handle disasters. The presentation takes the position that disasters and catastrophes are both foreseeable and manageable. The main focus involves relocating "the unthinkable" into present reality and determining - in advance of the event - how to deal with it. Actual historical events set the scene. Participants are coached in determining what to do and how to prioritize actions, emphasizing development of Disaster Plans and emergency preparation.
